Id like to hear what all the fans think of this years NHL Trade Deadline. More specifically, Id to know what team you think made the most significant move, or acquired the player that will push that team further into the playoffs.
I didnt list every single team that made moves, just the top five that stood out involving big names or key components for the team.

Many fans of the Vancouver Canucks were very vocal about their desire for GM Dave Nonis to make a move at the deadline to add some secondary scoring for the team. A trade was made, but it wasn’t what the fans may have hoped.
The Canucks management made a trade on the day of the trade deadline, and that was a player for player swap with the Washington Capitals. Canucks sent Matt Cooke, a long time ‘Nuck and favourite of many fans, to Washington for Matt Pettinger. It is hard to say which team will benefit the from this trade, but on stats alone I would have to say the Capitals.
Matt Cooke has played 61 games this season for the Canucks, scoring 7 goals with 9 assists for a total of 16 points. Matt Pettinger has only 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points in 56 games.
Regardless of the stats for this season, I believe Pettinger has more offensive ability/potential then the Cooker, and may be the reason Dave Nonis decided to trade for him. With Kesler, Burrows and some other grinders from the farm team, the Canucks have lots of depth in the grinder/agitator department. Vancouvers GM may be looking for another player, whos potential hasnt been reached with his current team, that will thrive with more icetime and better line placement in Vancouver. Others that come to mind that worked out like that is Naslund, that came from the Penguins where her was wasting away with 3rd and 4th line icetime, and more recently Taylor Pyatt, who has had carreer years since coming to Vancouver.
I guess time will only tell what team benefits the most from this trade, but I do think Washington will see the benefits of the trade a lot sooner then the Canucks.

With the Trade Deadline fast approaching the Tampa Bay Lightning and Philadelphia Flyers are the first to make a deal.
The Lightning sent left winger Vaclav Prospal to the Flyers in return for young defenceman Alexandre Picard and a Conditional draft pick.
Tampa Bay has addressed one issue in acquiring the young defenceman, but look for them to make another move before the deadline is over as they still need to address their goaltending issue.

A TSN story reported that the Stars submitted an offer for Tampa Bay forward Brad Richards, who might be available at Tuesday’s 2 p.m. trade deadline. But Stars co-general manager Les Jackson denied that an offer had been made.
“We’ve talked, for sure,” Jackson said. “We like the player, but we haven’t done anything.”
TSN’s story said that Tampa Bay brass reportedly told Richards that they have an interest in trading him. Richards has a no-movement clause in his contract, a five-year, $39 million deal signed in 2006. The no-movement clause means Richards cannot be traded, waived or assigned to a minor league team without his consent.
Richards, who has 18 goals and 39 assists this season, will earn $7.8 million in each of the next three seasons. Other teams expressing interest in Richards, according to TSN, are Vancouver and Columbus.
Jackson said the Stars might consider other deals.
“If the right thing comes up, we’ll see,” he said. “Our team is doing good, and I think we have to respect what we have.”

The Rangers are expected to know by early afternoon whether Dan Boyle, their primary target moving into tomorrow’s trade deadline, will be available… Contrary to reports, the Rangers have no interest whatsoever in Toronto defenseman Bryan McCabe. The Blueshirts do have interest in renting St. Louis’ prospective free agent defenseman Barret Jackman, but the price in return is expected to be far too high for Sather’s liking.

The Anaheim Ducks are trying to make a splash before the trade deadline.
While the Ducks and Wings are waiting to see if Mats Sundin will agree to be dealt, sources say Anaheim GM Brian Burke has made a pitch to the Florida Panthers for Olli Jokinen and has also likely spoken with the Tampa Bay Lightning about Vaclav Prospal.
Burke has the assets to make a big trade. He doesn’t want the Sharks or Wings to get the upper hand, with the deadline set for Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST.
The Ducks have the Oilers’ No. 1 pick in this year’s draft and prospect Bobby Ryan to dangle.

The face of the Southeast Division could change significantly in the next few days. And with the division title still up for grabs among at least four teams, what happens between now and the trade deadline at 3 p.m. Tuesday could go a long way toward deciding it.
Florida’s Olli Jokinen, Atlanta’s Marian Hossa and Tampa Bay’s Dan Boyle are among the dozen or so biggest names rumored to be on the move. Hossa and Boyle will be unrestricted free agents this summer, meaning their teams will have nothing to show if they leave. Jokinen, with two years left at a fair market price ($5.25 million and $5.5 million), could be a difference-maker.
General managers don’t want to weaken their roster or send the wrong message to fans in the midst of a playoff race, so there’s a chance none will be moved. But here’s betting one, or more, winds up elsewhere.

Five forwards with spectacular star power, and all are being shopped. Rumors are running rampant, but it’ll be interesting to see which players are moved by Tuesday’s trade deadline.

TAMPA - What started out earlier in the week as a smoke signal has turned into one of the hottest rumors burning up cyberspace and newsprint across North America.
When word out of the general managers’ meetings Monday indicated that Tampa Bay was putting out feelers for C Brad Richards, it seemed every rumor Web site and newspaper jumped on the story. Now it’s one of the biggest discussions around the NHL leading up to Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Richards’ name has been most often linked to Columbus and Vancouver, with Montreal, Philadelphia and Edmonton also believed to have interest in acquiring the 2004 Conn Smythe Trophy winner, with Columbus believed to be the front-runner should Tampa Bay decided to trade Richards.
As of Saturday, however, the rumors remained just that - speculation.

One week after Marian Hossa said the chances of signing with the Thrashers before the trade deadline were very slim, Don Waddell officially closed the door.
Waddell and Hossa met Friday at the team hotel in Toronto for a one-on-one update on the situation. Saturday morning, Waddell acknowledged that signing Hossa to a contract extension before Tuesday wasn’t an option.
